Hey folks, Arkansas resident here. My ex and I share the kids pretty evenly and I keep hearing conflicting things about whether that changes the child support amount or not. Some say 50/50 means nobody pays, others say it doesn't work like that. I'd love to actually see what the Arkansas guidelines say for our income split and custody setup instead of relying on rumors. Is there a tool that reflects Arkansas rules where I can plug in our real numbers and custody time?

Hi, the 50/50 rumor is one of the most common misconceptions, custody time matters but it rarely means nobody pays, it depends on the income gap too. To see what Arkansas actually says, use this arkansas child support calculator it uses the official Arkansas guidelines, so you can plug in both incomes and your real custody split and see the guideline result rather than going off rumors. It's free and runs privately on your device. When you enter fairly even custody but different incomes, you'll usually see the higher earner still contributes something, which surprises people. Run your real numbers through it and you'll get a clear, Arkansas-specific answer instead of the conflicting stuff you're hearing.
