How to run Android apps on Windows 11

For Linux users, the ability to run APK files is also available through emulators like Anbox (Android in a Box). Anbox places the Android operating system into a container, abstracts hardware access, and integrates with the host operating system, allowing Android apps to run like native Linux applications. Installing Anbox requires a bit of technical know-how, as it involves installing kernel modules and setting up specific configurations, but once set up, it offers a seamless experience. Similar Linux solutions include Waydroid, which runs a full Android system using a containerized approach, making it efficient and lightweight.
If you're primarily interested in mirroring your phone's screen to your PC and controlling apps from there, tools like AirDroid, Scrcpy, or Vysor are useful. These tools don't run APKs directly on your computer but allow you to control your Android device from your PC screen. Scrcpy, for example, is a free and open-source tool that mirrors your Android screen with minimal latency. It requires USB debugging to be enabled but is extremely fast and doesn’t require rooting. Vysor offers a similar experience but with more user-friendly setup and premium features for better screen resolution and wireless access. AirDroid adds file transfer and notification mirroring, making it useful for productivity-focused users.
